Experts believe that 1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem, Anxiety and Depression being at the top of the list.  You are not alone.

At certain points in out lives we might find ourselves unable to find the coping skills necessary to deal with what life can some times throw at us.  When this happens we tend to build up a surplus of fear and negative thoughts which causes our subconscious mind to think that we are in some kind of  a crisis. The subconscious mind then has to step in and take over and it does so in one of three ways; Anxiety, Depression or Anger.  All three are primitive opt out clauses in order to keep us out of danger which is one of the major roles of the subconscious mind.  Anxiety to help us flee from the crisis or danger, Depression so we can freeze, turn in on ourselves, or hide away until the danger is gone, and Anger to enable us to fight.

Anxiety

Symptoms of Anxiety can include feeling out of control, 'so much to do not enough time to do it', always worrying about what might happen tomorrow, lack of concentration, slump in confidence, disrupted sleep, feeling of hopelessness and helplessness often leading to depression, wanting to give up, get away, escape. This can result in migraine, IBS, chest pains, skins disorders, panics attacks and many more stress related illnesses.

During therapy you will find how your mind works and why anxiety has come about for you. Therapy will actively seek to realise what your stressors are. These may be situations or people you encounter from day to day, of which you may feel you haven't the resources to enable you to cope. By understanding which resources you feel would help you deal with these situations; we can build and strengthen them through carefully constructed suggestions. Using guided imagery you can build on a positive future, imagining things going well. You can then begin to notice these changes and through a re-evaluation of these stressors, begin to believe in your capability, standing you in good stead for the next time you encounter a 'stressful' situation. You will also be taught self-hypnotic techniques you can use anytime, anywhere and appreciate just how powerful self-hypnosis is, as it will enable you to achieve a deeply relaxed state and continue to help reduce your stress levels.

Depression

Symptoms of Depression can include feeling low, lack of self worth, tiredness, lethargy, procrastination, significant weight loss or weight gain, change in your sleep pattern, feelings of pointlessness and anxiety.  In extreme cases there may be thoughts of self harm or suicide.

Treating depression with hypnotherapy can be very effective and has a dramatically lower rate of relapse than anti-depressants alone.  It is now thought to be the most effective treatment and can be used on its own or alongside conventional medicine.

Therapy for Depression starts by helping you understand  why you are feeling this way and what steps you need to take so you can get your old self back.  Anxiety levels are lowered and you will learn new more helpful ways of seeing life situations. Therapy will tackle specific symptoms such as Insomnia or relationship issues and enable you to develop new skills in dealing you're your past, current and future life in a positive proactive and optimistic way.
