Is it safe?

No one can be hypnotised against their will and even in a trance people can reject any of the suggestions given if they are not appropriate. Hypnotherapy is also totally natural and drug free.

How do I become hypnotised?

The therapist will ask you to get as comfortable as you can, either lying on a couch or sitting up in a chair.  They will then guide you into a relaxed trance state much like day dreaming by the sound of their voice.  It can be very relaxing and enjoyable.

Will I know what’s going on whilst in hypnosis?

Yes, as hypnosis is a focus it can actually heighten our senses and awareness and you will be in control at all times.

How much will it cost?

Each session after the free initial consultation lasts about an hour and will cost £55.  Sessions are usually weekly.  We will discuss your progress and make sure that you remain on track to achieve the changes you want. The one off double session for Quit Smoking lasts up to 2hrs and costs £110.

Every one receives a free back up CD.

If you need to cancel please give 48hrs notice or a 50% cancellation fee will be charged.

Will I have to do anything?

The hypnotherapist acts as a facilitator for change.  As all hypnosis is self hypnosis, it is the will and determination of the client that will bring about change.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, you can bring whoever you would like to come with you.

How many sessions will it take?

This normally varies between 1 and 10 and is dependant on the presenting problem.  This will be assessed during the free consultation along with the most appropriate type of therapy.  For Quit Smoking Therapy only one double session lasting  up to 2 hours is needed.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is nothing more than a focus.  It is also a natural occurring state that we enter into many times a day for example when we are day dreaming, just before we go to sleep and even when we are watching television.  Have you ever driven a car from point A to point B and ever wondered whatever happened to point A1/2 on the way…yes?, a form of hypnosis again.

It is a very pleasant and relaxing state where ones awareness is heightened.  Contrary to popular belief, you will not lose awareness or control.

In this trance like state the conscious part of our mind is bypassed and we have more access to the subconscious.  We also know that this is when we are most susceptible to suggestion.

It is because of this phenomenon that advertisements are placed in the middle of television programs.  We are so focused when watching TV that we drift in and out of trance, and it is when we are at our most susceptible  (when our intellectual control is down) we are hit with suggestion.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is different from other therapies in that it is drug free, there is no physical manipulation and the conscious mind, with its anxious or analytical thoughts, is bypassed.  It is the conscious mind which can often hinder the success of other forms of psychological work such as counselling or psychotherapy.  Beneficial results are often achieved faster than with other therapies, using this trance like state to bypass the conscious mind and access the subconscious directly.

It is whilst using this tool that we can re-program the subconscious mind to change unwanted patterns of behaviour or harmful habits such as smoking or phobias. Using positive suggestion and imagery, the therapist is able to focus on the behaviours that the client wishes to change.  With individually focused therapy, significant positive changes can be introduced and maintained.
