Book a Free Initial Consultation. I always advise coming for a free initial consultation, except with the straight forward Quit Smoking Therapy. The consultation can last up to an hour and during that time I will take down some basic information about you and explain in more detail how hypnotherapy works and how it can help. You can ask questions and then you can make an informed decision as to whether to enter into a course of treatment. I will give you a CD to listen to at home before we meet again. The service I provide is completely confidential and you are under no obligation to book further appointments.

It is a natural occurring state that we enter into many times a day, for example when we are day dreaming, just before we go to sleep and even when we are watching television. Have you ever driven a car from point A to point B and ever wondered whatever happened to point A1/2 on the way…yes?, a form of hypnosis again.
It is a very pleasant and relaxing state where ones awareness is heightened contrary to popular belief you will not lose awareness or control. In this trance like state the conscious part of our mind is bypassed and we have more access to the subconscious. We also know that this is when we are most susceptible to suggestion.
It is because of this phenomenon that advertisements are placed in the middle of television programs. We are so focused when watching TV that we drift in and out of trance, and it is when we are at our most susceptible (when our intellectual control is down) we are hit with suggestion. What is Hypnotherapy? Hypnotherapy is different from other therapies in that it is drug free, there is no physical manipulation and the conscious mind, with its anxious or analytical thoughts, is bypassed. It is the conscious mind which can often hinder the success of other forms of psychological work such as counselling or psychotherapy. Beneficial results are often achieved faster than with other therapies, using this trance like state to bypass the conscious mind and access the subconscious directly.
It is whilst using this tool that we can re-program the subconscious mind to change unwanted patterns of behaviour or harmful habits such as smoking or phobias. Using positive suggestion and imagery, the therapist is able to focus on the behaviours that the client wishes to change. With individually focused therapy, significant positive changes can be introduced and maintained. | | | |

There are different types of therapy for different problems: |
Suggestion Therapy: This is useful for promoting positive messages such as confidence building, ego-strengthening, stopping smoking, exam nerves etc. The subconscious mind accepts suggestions during the therapy to promote and reinforce positive messages. | | | | Solution Based Therapy: This is concerned with goal achievement; changing perspectives and identifying causes and solutions. It is effective for fears, phobias, weight loss, anxiety, depression, self esteem to name but a few. | | | Analytical Therapy:
This can be used with solution focused therapy when felt appropriate. Sometimes events in our early life can have a negative influence on our present behaviour. These events can be identified and sometimes this alone will alleviate symptoms.
CBT - Cognative Behavioral Therapy: CBT is a combination of two types of therapy: Cognitive therapy, which helps with thinking processes such as unwanted thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs and Behavioural therapy, which focuses on behaviour in response to those thoughts. CBT is based on the belief that most unhealthy ways of thinking and behaving have been learned over a long period of time. Using a set of structured techniques, a CBT aims to identify how you are thinking and how this can cause problematic feelings and behaviour. CBT will then help you to learn to change this way of thinking. An effective therapy for anger issues, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, drug or alcohol problems to name only a few.
